K9 Advantix

Bayer manufactures K9 Advantix. This product is safe to use on dogs but not cats. K9 Advantix contains a combination of the active ingredients imidacloprid and permethrin. K9 Advantix is waterproof.

Fleas

Frontline kills 100 percent of fleas within 12 hours of application. K9 Advantix repels and kills fleas.

Ticks

K9 Advantix kills and repels all major species of ticks. Frontline kills 100 percent of ticks upon application but does not repel them.

Mosquitoes

Frontline does not kill or repel mosquitoes. K9 Advantix does both.

Frontline vs K9-Advantix - Customer Feekbacks

Having used both - I found the Frontline Plus to work better. My dogs had fleas again in one week after K9 Advantix. I will never use that product again. It was a huge waste of money.

We use Frontline, but my dog is a mini schnauzer and has short hair that does not shed. Frontline works great for us though.

Mother usually is the one that puts the stuff on them. And she says Front Line is better: It repels more kinds of bugs, and lasts longer. The only advantage Advantix has is price: That's lower.

K9 Advantix works the best!

We have used Advantage and Frontline and have had similar results. It usually lasts about 3 weeks instead of 4 weeks. I don't use Advantix because I have cats and it is poisonous for them.

K9 Advantix, it works much, much better.

K9 Advantix
Pros: starts working within about one hour kills and repels fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes. Very effective safe and non-toxic to dogs. Cons: extremely poisonous to cats does not kill flea eggs.

Frontline Plus
Pros: kills and repels fleas, flea eggs, and ticks very effective. Safe and non-toxic to dogs and cats. Cons: does not kill mosquitoes. Takes about 24 hours to start working

K9 Advantix works better. Frontline will kill fleas and ticks, but it doesn't keep them from getting on your pet in the first place. With Frontline, each parasite must bite your dog at least once in order to ingest the "poison". With K9 Advantix, your dog won't ever have to experience the discomfort of the bites.

Advantage shows at 28 days K-9 Advantix lost about 50% of it's efficiency at killing fleas versus a 5% efficiency loss in Frontline Plus. In this study dogs were treated with one of three products (Frontline Plus, K-9 Advantix, or Advantage. The dogs were then exposed to 100 live unfed fleas on days 6, 13, 20 and 27. Flea counts were taken on the dogs on days 7, 14, 21 and 28. Frontline Plus maintained a flea killing efficiency of over 95% during the study period. K-9 Advantix dropped to 70% by day 14!!!! and to 50% by day 28!!! I have also heard countless horror stories of dogs being poisoned by K-9 Advantix. The permethrin (one of the 2 active ingredients in K-9 advantix) causes poisonings in cats and dogs who lick themselves. The permethin is also used in a lot of grocery store brand flea products like Hartz. Permethin is used by farmers to rid crops of insects. This is not something I would want to put on my pet!
